Description
The Argon 18 Gallium CS Disc - Accessible Performance
Argon 18 takes great pride in making super high quality frames at a reasonable price. And rightly so. A bike like the Argon 18 Gallium CS Disc offers most of the benefits of the WorldTour level Gallium Pro but at a price point that is accessible even to those of us who are not sponsored athletes.
Taking more than one cue from the Gallium Pro Disc, the Gallium CS Disc uses the same aggressive geometry that will help you take control of your group ride’s paceline or sprint for the prize prime at your next race. The Gallium CS has a size-specific geometry so that the smaller frames can expect to offer the same level of snappiness mixed with stability that the medium and larger frames have. Just the fact that Argon 18 include this among their Gallium frame lineup should be indication enough that it has had quite a lot of attention paid to it in the design process. They use a lightweight monocoque process to layup the carbon frame, using a slightly less exalted carbon than is used on the top of the line Galliums. That modification sacrifices a little weight perhaps, but you can count on having the same great rigidity mixed with comfortable compliance as well as the durability you will expect from a brand like Argon 18.
Versatility and Safety with Gallium CS Disc Brakes
It will also prove to be a hugely versatile road bike since the disc brakes will increase the security and safety factor, especially if you are training often in the rain or intend to use it as a winter training bike. The ability for it to fit up to 28c tires will give you the option to take on the unexpected unpaved section of road on your longer routes. And the fact that the through axles will increase the overall stiffness of the wheel setup will be something that you will appreciate, whether you are negotiating some pot-holed-roads or attacking a serpentine descent. It also has the 3D System at the headtube which makes it possible to have three different stack options without having to resort to unsightly and ineffective spacers. It helps you to adjust the handlebar height using these specially designed head tube internals. It’s a huge improvement over the use of spacers because it will look cleaner and increases front end rigidity up to 11% compared to a 25mm worth of spacers.
The BB86 bottom bracket will also work with a wide variety of cranks, while ensuring the rigidity for big power transfer when you are hammering the pedals. They have also designed an inlaid chainsuck protector to ensure all shifting through the gears without any chance of mis-shifting and jamming. And for those times you are packing it to travel, the rear derailleur hanger is replaceable, while the front hanger is riveted aluminum.
Available in two specific builds, in a SRAM Rival 22 or Force 22 setup, the Argon 18 Gallium CS Disc has been designed to be the perfect racing and training bike option for anyone looking to have a great ride at an excellent price point.
