Balancing Descent and Ascent: The Intense Tracer 279's Dual Purpose

Even if enduro racing is all timed on the downhill part, there is still the need to be able to climb to the next DH stage. You may not like it, but you gotta do it. The Intense Tracer 279 has been designed not only to make those DH parts epically fast but the climbing part remarkably efficient.

To be certain you can kill it on the downhill sections, Intense designers have taken a leaf out of the Intense M29 DH bike. They have taken the bottom link driven rear shock and suspension design to enhance the Tracer’s ability to descend while offering a firm pedal platform. The rear shock is positioned low and centered in the frame, which enhances the Tracer’s stability at speed.

The designers have staggered wheelsize with a 29-inch up front and a 27.5 in the rear and combined that with a 170mm front and rear travel which results in exceptional capability on the descents and an ability to rail the corners. That staggered wheel design is not just a conversation piece, but also contributes to the roll-over stability and quick agility of the Tracer. And the geometry contributes to this feeling of control. You can even choose between a low and high setting thanks to the Flip Chip design that can be pretty easily switched depending on your ride preference and route requirements.

JS Tuned Suspension System used in the Tracer 279

Like all Intense bikes, the Tracer benefits from the JS Tuned suspension system with the enduro link, which is specifically placed to allow for separation between the pedaling and braking forces from the suspension performance. That is one of the main reasons that the Tracer 279 is so efficient going uphill as well.

Another clever highlight comes with the on-bike storage solution system featured on the Tracer. The Chad Storage System offers a compartment located in the frame's downtube under the bottom bracket where a specially designed Chad System storage bag can hold your tubes, CO2 cartridges, tools, and other trailside repair solutions.
