The Epic Evil Bikes Epocalypse
Though some cyclists tend to be a bit snooty about e-bikes, there are few downhill riders who would object to having a slick way to climb the steepest hills while enjoying the burly speed and stable control on the downhill. The Evil Bikes Epocalypse makes all this possible and more!
This 29er has been given real DH cred with the 166mm of rear travel and 170mm for front, with a chassis taking inspiration from the Wreckoning and a geometry that puts it full tilt in the gravity category. Add to that mix the Shimano EP8 motor that produces 85Nm of pedal assistance along with the 630Wh battery, and you can see how the DH and enduro crowd will get very excited about the Epocalypse.
Durable Carbon Frame with DELTA Suspension used in the Epocalypse
Made from high quality carbon fiber with an emphasis on durability, the Epocalypse frame provides a strong platform for the Shimano EP8 motor to help you throw down the power. Dave Weagle’s DELTA System for the rear suspension pivot gives the Epocalypse a progressive ramp up that will keep the ride plush while ensuring you’ll have enough traction to remain fast and in control. The DELTA’s Flip Chip design lowers your bottom bracket and slackens the front end for a more aggressive stance without changing that signature DELTA leverage curve.
Adding Super Boost to the set up makes it possible to use a broader, stiffer spoke pattern for the wheels while the wider swingarm keeps the weight nearer the bottom bracket which will help you feel even more like a demon on the downhill. The design allows the rear triangle to support 29 x 2.6” tires, for all the rubber you’ll ever need. That clearance is even more impressive given the 442mm short chainstays.
The frame design integrates the battery inside the down tube so it is well protected but still easily accessible for charging. Knowing that real DH runs can be tough on bikes, the Evil designers have developed robust protection plates and integrated shuttle shield for the down tube, as well as rubber chainstay protectors so that you don’t have to worry about dinging your frame or your e-power station in the heat of the moment.
The Evil Bikes Epocalypse electric assisted gravity bike not only levels the playing field, but levels the mountains. You will be able to scale any hike-a-bike sections and ditch the ski lift on your way up to DH nirvana.
