Description
The Versatility of Disc Brakes - the Passoni Titanio Disco
We love disc brakes on road bikes. We also love rim brakes on road bikes. We just love road bikes. And few road bikes with disc brakes sit higher in our estimation than the Passoni Titanio Disco.
In case it’s not immediately clear, the Passoni Titanio Disco is more closely related to the Passoni Titanio than the Passoni Titanio Classica. That means that, though much of it is customizable from geometry to frame finish, it is basically intended for people who like a fast handling, responsive frame for racing and fast club riding. Though a few tweaks have been made to accommodate the different forces disc brakes assert. The front triangle is much the same in diameter with the round top tube having a 36.4 mm diameter while the seat tube has a 35mm diameter. The down tube too has the bi-oval 48mm diameter plain gage, with loops for wiring output.
The Customized Passoni Columbus Futura Fork in the Titanio Disco
The rear triangle is where things start looking a little different with the round seatstays having a 16mm diameter while the oval chainstays come in with a 21x27mm S-shape. The bottom bracket comes only with the PF30 option but with the same gorgeous CNC machined titanium grade 5 resplendent with the Passoni engraved logo and frame code. Something that obviously has to be different are the dropouts which are CNC machined titanium grade 5 for a through axle with an Ergal insert for the derailleur hanger. For the fork, the customized Passoni Columbus Futura for through axle with a 45mm rake will do the trick, keeping the handling snappy but still predictable.
There are a variety of options for how you can have the frame finished, as well as different options for builds and of course, the size and geometry can be all customized. The Passoni Titanio Disco is a bike for someone who wants the ride quality that favors aggressive positions but appreciates the feel that only high quality, well-handled titanium can offer. This is a bike that is beautiful enough to hang on the wall, but that would be a shame since it will also likely be the best riding bike you’ll ever own.
