The Argon 18 Gallium Pro Disc: Lightweight Performance and Superior Braking
The Argon 18 Gallium Pro Disc bike combines the fantastic lightweight layup of their WorldTour tier road bike with the excellent braking capabilities of flat mount disc brakes. This is a road bike that will climb like a dream, descend like a demon, and allow you to explore those roads less taken.
If you are a road rider, you are probably very much attached to the feeling of nirvana that a smooth road and fast bike can give you. What all us roadies really look forward to is discovering that amazingly paved road where we can forget everything and just ride hard: up hills, down descents, long country road straights or twisty valley curves. That’s what the Argon 18 Gallium Pro Disc will do for you. You’ll feel the confidence in the setup to go exploring so you can find that perfect, untouched road. Gallium Pro Disc comes with the same lightweight carbon frame as its WorldTour Gallium Pro brother but with disc brakes and the ability to fit up to 28 inch tires for greater comfort and control over rough roads. Considering Strade Bianche is regularly won on 25mm tires, having 28mm will be sufficient for most roadies who want to test their strength on their local “white roads.”
The geometry of this disc brake version of the Gallium Pro also leans more towards the aggressive racing fit. And though guys on the Argon 18 pro sponsored teams will spend upwards of eight hours a day on these bikes, this is not really the geometry us mere mortals will be looking for if we are aiming to have a comfort-oriented endurance bike. This is a bike for intense training and racing, whether you are planning on using it in your local races and mass start events, or just want to have the fastest, most practical road bike for your solitary weekend centuries. Getting your fit right will be made easy, though, with Argon 18’s 3D System, which offers three head tube heights for every frame size. This helps you to adjust the handlebar height using these specially designed head tube internals. It’s a huge improvement over the use of spacers because it will look cleaner and increases front end rigidity up to 11% compared to a 25mm worth of spacers.
Of course the added advantage of having the disc brakes is that you can enjoy excellent braking control through the roughest weather and rain conditions. Even if you have been cycling for years stretching into decades and are comfortable with your ability to use rim brakes in wet weather, the effectiveness of the disc brakes are astounding and will encourage you to keep your speed that much faster even in pouring rain because you’ll know you won’t have to leave as much braking room as you otherwise would need. That could be the difference between winning or not even podiuming at your most important race of the summer if it is hit by unwanted rains. It’s designed around flat mount disc brakes which will give you the option to fit all major components companies disc brakes groupsets. The BB86 bottom bracket will also work with a wide variety of cranks, while ensuring the rigidity for big power transfer when you are hammering the pedals.

Adding the Argon 18 Gallium Pro Disc to your collection of bikes will give you the chance to hit the roads and do some extra exploring without having to worry about when the pavement runs out. It’s a pure racing bike that will also help you find the joy of discovering those unknown roads.
