Wilier Cento10 SL Disc: An Aero-Oriented Affordable Road Bike for All-Terrain Adventures
If you are a road rider on a budget but want to have a fast road bike that you can take over all sorts of terrain, then the Wilier Cento10 SL for disc brakes is calling your name. As the aero-oriented affordable option in the Wilier lineup, this is a bike begging to be raced but with wider tire clearance that can also heed the siren call of road adventures.
The Cento10 SL is the baby brother of the Cento10 Pro, which you’ll see on TV in races like the Tour de France. The Pro is certainly available for purchase with us as well, but you’ll notice the price is somewhat different. With the Cento10 SL, you can get a ton of the advanced features found on the Pro but at a much more friendly price point.
The disc brake version of the Wilier Cento10 SL can accept up to 28mm tires. If you are racing on the road most the time, you might not feel the need to go up to that wide of a tire, but if you are in a region where it is easy to do super quiet rides by connecting gorgeous roads with a touch of unpaved gravel sections, then you will feel so much happier and more adventurous with that little bit thicker rubber. And comfort levels will go up as well, not to say that the Cento10 SL Disc isn’t comfy, but being able to run wider tires always holds the key to greater cushioning.
Aggressive Geometry with Stiffness and Durability in the Cento10 SL Disc
For the frame itself, Wilier takes a similarly aggressive geometry for the Cento10 SL Disc, though adding a touch of weight and saving some money on the carbon used. It’s still extremely stiff and durable, but just a pinch heavier. But when we’re getting an aero advantage like this, a handful of extra grams will hardly matter. This is a frame that is stiff enough to be powered by the strongest sprinters, and with the classic race-ready geometry, you will be keen to rip up the course at the fastest criterium races in your region. Combining this geometry with an updated round steerer tube, the Cento10 SL Disc enjoys similar handling qualities found on the Cento10 Pro Disc. And that means flowing, fast descents will be a double joy.
Wilier has also worked in conjunction with material partner Ritchey to develop their new Stemma SL stem that can hide all cables to route effortlessly through to the frame. They’ve also been quite clever about making it still possible for any maintenance to be done without having to remove the handlebars. The specially designed Barra bars are quite clever too since they have an aero and comfort-oriented shape on the tops, though they still remain compatible with clip on aerobars. That will help the Cento10 SL Disc be a pretty nifty option for anyone who fancies doing the occasional triathlon.
The Wilier Cento10 SL Disc’s advanced aero tubing and exceptional handling combined with the ability to run wider tires make this not only incredibly competitive for road racing but surprisingly capable for anyone who faces cracked and rough road surfaces on a daily basis.
