The Ibis DV9: A Modernized Version of a Classic Hardtail

Though the DV9 had slipped out of the Ibis line-up for a few years, it looks like the engineers have taken the opportunity to reboot it as a modern version of its already awesome self. With the Ibis DV9 carbon 29-inch hardtail, they have gone out of their way to design a bike that can do it all and at a reasonable price that makes it all that much more fun.

Racing, training, having a blast. That’s what the DV9 is meant to do. The DV9 has a ton of the best tech and snappiest performance that sometimes is hard to find in bikes twice as expensive. This is a quality carbon frame that offers a modern geometry designed to be balanced and stable in rough, poppy trail riding without giving up the type of responsive handling that will be required for a technical XC race.

Adjustable Fork Travel in the DV9 bike frame

The DV9 has been optimized around a 120mm front fork, but you can fit between a 100mm and 140mm travel forks depending on your riding style and preference. The previous iteration of the DV9 accepted only up to 120mm forks, so this newest version is giving you the tools you need to get much rowdier if you want. Similarly, the geometry has been more than tweaked. It’s been fully modernized with a slacker 66.5° heat tube angle combined with supremely pop-able 425mm chainstays.

The level of tire clearance has also been designed to keep this baby usable in multiple situations. It can fit up to 2.6-inch tires for those rides you really just want to thrash some secret back trails, but for lighter race day setups, you can run 2.25 inch tires and plow through those technical courses. The DV9 is 1x specific, and the max chainring size is 34 teeth. The post mount rear brakes can accommodate up to 203mm rotors for superior stopping power.

Available in four sizes, the Ibis DV9 can accommodate riders between 5 foot and 6 foot 6. Smaller riders will appreciate the excellent standover height and the fact that there is room for two water bottles inside the front triangle for all sizes. Thick rubber down tube and chainstay protectors will prevent the gorgeous carbon from being dinged.
