Versatile Adventure Awaits - Unveiling the Intense Primer 29
If you are looking for a do everything, go everywhere 29-inch trail bike, the Intense Primer 29 can answer your call for adventure. The high quality carbon frame coupled with efficient pedaling and dialed suspension guarantees a lively ride that can help you conquer your toughest trails.
The folks at Intense say that this is the most versatile mountain bike in their line-up and it’s easy to see why. Combining 29-inch wheels with 140mm of rear travel and 150mm up front, the Primer 29 can devour flowy trails at speed while offering the type of confidence-inspiring suspension to encourage you to tackle the black trails on the way back down. Mixing brutish capability with agile flickabilty means that this is a bike to take on laps in your local woods, jumps at the bike park, or multi-day adventures.
No expense was spared when designing the Primer 29. In addition to the monocoque carbon frame, the rear triangle has a dual-strut design made from optimized carbon fiber layup to ensure durability in addition to keeping the weight at a minimum. The dual-strut design uses a pair of counter-rotating links to connect the front and rear triangles and has been tuned for 140mm of rear wheel travel. It’s a clever design that separates the pedaling and braking forces from the suspension.
This design of the counter-rotating links to connect the front and rear triangles of the bike is the brainchild of Intense founder and CEO Jeff Steber. His suspension design is used throughout the Intense line-up, though each category of bike gets their own tune appropriate for the intended purpose. In the case of the Primer 29, they want you to be able to feel confident to attack your downhills without having to dread the climb back up.
Since sometimes those two goals - descending well and climbing effortlessly - are at odds with each other in terms of design options, Intense includes Flip Chip technology to allow you to adjust your geometry according to your ride preference and route requirements. Located where the top of the rear triangle meets the top swing-link, the Flip Chip can be switched without hassle to alter the geometry between high and low settings. The high setting is intended for everyday riding that incorporates at least 50% climbing, but when you are planning on hitting the DH trails, then you can go low and go hard. Going from the high to low mode slackens the headangle by 0.6º, drops the bottom bracket by 7mm and shortens the reach by 6mm (figures for Primer 29 in Large).
The Exceptional Detailing of Primer 29
An exceptional level of detail finishes the Intense Primer 29 with titanium hardware throughout, internal routingfor shifter, dropper post and brakes, ISCG05 mounts, Flak guard armor frame protection on the downtube, and a threaded bottom bracket shell. Available in four sizes, it’s a trail bike for champions.
