Description
Unleash the Trails with the Intense Primer S
If you are lucky enough to live close enough to Whistler-style trail riding, then you will want to have a very close look at the Intense Primer S 29er. It’s the souped-up version of the trail-oriented Primer line. Designed for high speed descending and agile climbing.
What sets the Primer S apart from its Intense trail siblings is the fact that they have teamed up with renowned suspension specialists Öhlins to provide you with 140mm of rear travel and 160mm up front thanks to the TTX22M coil shock and RFX 36 m.2 air fork. By including their incredibly capable fork and shock gives you super-consistent control, ground-hugging traction, and an ultra-plush feel. Intense really want this to be a trail bike of pure perfection. Their expertise in design shines through when combined with this heavy-hitting suspension.
Increasing the front travel to 160mm means that you can straddle the boundary between trail and enduro without compromising on the agility when climbing and navigating technical trails. Mixing brutish capability with agile flickabilty means that this is a bike to take on laps in your local woods, jumps at the bike park, or multi-day adventures.
No expense was spared when designing the Primer 29. In addition to the monocoque carbon frame, the rear triangle has a dual-strut design made from optimized carbon fiber layup to ensure durability in addition to keeping the weight at a minimum. The dual-strut design uses a pair of counter-rotating links to connect the front and rear triangles and has been tuned for 140mm of rear wheel travel. It’s a clever design that separates the pedaling and braking forces from the suspension that is the brainchild of Intense founder and CEO Jeff Steber.
Flip Chip Technology used in the Primer S
Intense includes Flip Chip technology to allow you to adjust your geometry according to your ride preference and route requirements. Located where the top of the rear triangle meets the top swing-link, the Flip Chip can be switched without hassle to alter the geometry between high and low settings. The high setting is intended for everyday riding that incorporates at least 50% climbing, but when you are planning on hitting the DH trails, then you can go low and go hard. Going from the high to low mode slackens the head angle, drops the bottom bracket, and shortens the reach.
An exceptional level of detail finishes the Intense Primer S with titanium hardware throughout, internal routing for shifter, dropper post and brakes, ISCG05 mounts, Flak guard armor frame protection on the downtube, and a threaded bottom bracket shell. Available in four sizes, this is a trail bike that will egg you on to find your most aggressive trails.
