Description
Moots MXC Titanium Cross-Country Hardtail Mountain Bike
If Moots didn’t already exist, the cycling industry would have to invent it. If only to have a company that doesn’t follow trends: the Steamboat Springs company either establishes trends or ignores them. That is clear with the Moots MXC titanium cross-country hardtail mountain bike. It’s a high performance modern mountain bike designed for XC purists.
Moots have been careful not to pigeonhole the MXC. They don’t want you to think that it’s a bike you’ll only want if you plan on racing XC or marathon events – though of course it would do brilliantly between the tape. They want you to think of it as the most fun bike you can grab when heading to the bike park, finding fast XC-trails, techy singletrack, and even gravel Gran Fondos.
Modern Geometry of the Moots MXC
Though they claim the MXC has a modern day geometry, you shouldn’t start thinking that they’ve just gone down the long and low rabbit hole to appeal to the all-mountain bike crowd. They know if that’s what you want, then you’ll be better off with their Womble. With the MXC, the geometry is designed to keep the bike feeling nimble and fast on high-speed terrain. That’s why they also have paired it with a 100 mm suspension fork and a 69° headtube angle. That racy steep head tube angle might turn a few heads, but it will feel glorious when you are threading your way through a fast modern XC course.
The Moots MXC pairs 29-inch wheels with the frame that uses boost 148mm dropouts designed to accept up to 2.4-inch tires. It’s also 1x-specific with space for up to a 38-tooth chainring. That is just another indicator of how fast Moots thinks you’re gonna want to be able to go on this baby. The titanium reflects that aim too since Moots has used large diameter, double-butted tubing to make certain the MXC will have the desired snap to the acceleration when you really want to kick it in the pants. The T47 bottom bracket offers the best of all BB worlds and will make matching your ideal crank much easier. They’ve future-proofed it too with the UHD or universal derailleur hanger.
Practical Features for Long Rides
You can fit up to three water bottle cages, which will make hydrating easier for those ultra races and marathons. The Moots MXC offers internal dropper post routing and fully external rear brake routing with the option of having mechanical shift routing. It’s a titanium XC racing bike that can be fun in all sorts of terrains whether you are racing or just enjoying a day at the bikepark.
