The Enve MOG: A Versatile Gravel Bike for Racing and Bikepacking
If you are the type of rider who likes to spend a weekend racing fast gravel events, then head off the next week to do an incredible bikepacking tour, you are probably annoyed when a gravel bike is designed only for one or the other. The Enve MOG has you covered, though, because it is a gravel bike that can go out and win Unbound one weekend and then join one of those ultra-endurance dot-watching events the next. It’ll also just be mega fun to ride and explore.
Enve made its name developing high end road and mountain bike equipment like wheels and handlebars. Bike brands would spec Enve products as a sign of premium quality. But once bike brands started making their own handlebars and wheels, what was Enve to do? Make their own bikes, of course! And since we’re talking Enve, they aren’t doing anything half-baked. Having already released two road bike frames, the MOG is their first foray into the gravel sector, and boy did they hit it out of the park.
The MOG is a modern gravel bike, which means that it has been developed to do fast gravel as well as adventure gravel thanks to some very specific design choices. Most interestingly, the MOG can fit 50mm tires on 700c wheels but does not offer accommodation for 650b wheels. That’s a bold but conscious decision by the designers. They wanted to get the best, most confident handling using the 700c wheels without having to incorporate the design compromises that accommodating 650b wheels necessitates. Being able to get massive rubber on this race ready frame is what made it possible for Alexey Vermeulen to take top-5 at Unbound in 2022.
Then again, if you are all about bikepacking and getting your exploratory legs turning, the MOG can make that happen too. A nice selection of storage and rack mounts as well as fender mounts have been included on the frame and fork. There is also an in-frame storage in the oversized down tube where you can keep tools and other essentials, neatly stored and secured thanks to the provided bags. If you are looking to take the MOG over some fairly rough trails and like to descend like a daredevil, then the dropper post compatibility will be music to your ears.
High-Quality Construction and Carbon in the Enve MOG
The MOG frame can withstand these wide varieties of ride style thanks to the ultra high quality construction and carbon used. Enve ensure the materials, fiber weights, and fiber angles used in the laminate are selected and formed to provide zone-specific performance. That means that the frame provides rigidity and compliancy where needed, while keeping weight to a minimum.
The Enve MOG is offered in six frame sizes from 49 to 60 cm and can work with the full range of mechanical or electric groupsets.
