CHAPTER 2 TOA - The Ultimate All-Round Carbon Racing Bike

While a lot of bike brands continue to develop frames that focus on one strength or another, for instance aero or lightweight or comfort, the CHAPTER 2 TOA moves in a different direction by striving to develop the ultimate all-round carbon racing bike. Considering the Pryde background in sailing, it should come as no surprise that the designers at CHAPTER2 have focused on making the TOA aero in those areas that really matter. Optimizing the tube shapes, they have made sure that the head tube and fork crown interface perfectly to keep that leading edge as aero as possible. The down tube, seat tube, and seat post have also been given a Kamm tail shape and the seat clamp has been cleverly integrated to remain aero and effective at securing the seat post. And the included MANA integrated bar and stem combo internally route all the cables and housing to allow air to flow over it smoothly, creating a seamless and elegant cockpit made 100% from TORAY Carbon.The TOA’s responsiveness should get some attention as well, since the CHAPTER 2 designers have succeeded in increasing the TOA’s bottom bracket region by 7.3% when compared to the TERE. They have managed this thanks to the T47 bottom bracket that allows them to build a sturdier, stiffer bottom bracket, without any of the fuss associated with press fit systems. The head tube is also stiffer than the TERE thanks to the use of a Latex mandrel for the whole front triangle that keeps carbon layering and resin use precise and efficient.

Don’t let all this talk of stiffness and rigidity let you think that the TOA is a bone shaker. Quite the contrary. The Toray carbon used for the seat stays and seat post has been specifically chosen because it dampens vibrations extremely well. And the fact that you can fit up to 32mm tires on the frame will also add to your overall comfort. Quick-Fit headset spacers combined with the easy wiring offered by the MANA cockpit makes the CHAPTER 2 TOA quite convenient to travel with and adjust.
