Description
Pinarello F7 - advanced bike frame
Finding the ideal racing bike that fits both your riding style and pocketbook can be challenging, which is why the Pinarello F7 should shoot to the top of your priority list. Made using many of the same innovative features found on the stratospheric Dogma F, the Pinarello F7 benefits from the deep knowledge the engineers at the Italian company lavish on their most advanced frames, while keeping the price at a much more accessible level.
By using the Dogma F as a blueprint, the developers at Pinarello have packed a ton of perks into the design that would pit the Pinarello F7 against the top model of nearly every other high level racing brand. As with the Dogma F, the genius is in the carbon layup. Long affiliated with the Japanese carbon manufacturers Toray, Pinarello employs the T900 carbon for the F7 since it offers an excellent balance between responsiveness, vibration absorption and low weight, without breaking the bank.
This is a bike that the designers at Pinarello want you to be able to feel like you can rip the legs off your opponents whether in racing or sprinting for town signs. That’s one reason they have included the same fork for the F7 that the Dogma F uses, to ensure the sharpest handling and responsiveness. The total frame weight stays well under 1000g and as a result of these high end choices, the Pinarello F7 weighs an enviable 955g.
Pinarello designers have also updated the F7 to accommodate more modern road tire widths. Not too many years ago we did see mega important races like Strada Bianche and Paris-Roubaix being won on 25mm tires. Now it’s rare to see anyone even on the road going below 28mm, which is why the Pinarello F series frames have been upgraded to take tires up to 30mm. It not only increases comfort but puts Pinarello frames in line with most modern wheel designs which are optimizing aero performance for 28mm to 30mm tires.
As with the Dogma F, the F-series frames all include aerodynamic design cues to ensure you're never working harder against the wind than you must. The classic Pinarello TICR integrated cable routing keeps the look neat and the performance high. They also sculpted the frame tubes to have limited drag with maximum rigidity and responsiveness. The down tube looks very familiar to the Dogma F with the bottle cage area shaped to hide the cage and bottle from the wind. The seat post has been borrowed from the Dogma F, which has such a sleek shape as to be nearly invisible!
To ensure the frame has the rigidity to help make the most of all the aero shaping, Pinarello designers have committed to the Asymmetric way of life, a notion that Pinarello has been championing for many years stretching now into decades. The idea is to balance the larger torsional force that the pedaling action puts on the chain. All F-series frames have received a carbon layup that builds up the seat and chain stays to withstand the pedaling forces and enhance the power transfer.
What’s also nice about the Pinarello F-series frames is that thanks to Pinarello’s Think 2 cable routing design options, this frame can accommodate both electric and mechanical groupsets from all main manufacturers. That’s something where the F5 has the advantage over the premium Dogma F, which only accepts electric groupsets.
