Description
The Fun-Focused Ibis Ripley V4S mountain bike: Lightweight and Snappy
While XC and enduro bikes have their nose deep into racing need specifics, a trail bike can focus lots more on just being super fun. The Ibis Ripley V4S does just that and more. You can race it, of course, but it is so snappy and lightweight with 29-inch wheels so that you can flick it all over your favorite trails.
Versatility is the whole point of the Ripley and always has been. Ibis designers want you to feel like you can do whatever you want like a hero on this bike. With its modern, progressive geometry, the Ripley V4S offers stability at speed that will give you the confidence to slice your lines with extra aggression. The 120mm rear travel paired with 130mm up front ensures you can crush all-day epics in the saddle knowing your machine can give you the traction you need to be in control. The Dave Weagle dw-link suspension platform uses V5 kinematics and always guarantees climbing efficiency and descending capability well beyond what you’d typically expect from 120mm of travel.
The Ibis Ripley V4S has received a series of mini-upgrades compared to the Ripley V4, mostly concentrated in the swingarm, which accounts for the S in the name. Most obviously, they have switched to the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), which essentially future-proofs it for whatever newfangled derailleur SRAM concocts in the years to come. As a result of this change, the entire swingarm has been revamped and moved to a 55mm chain line, with a wider and stiffer chainstay. And this means that they have invested a bit of time in upgrading clevis pivot bushings and ensuring they are better sealed.
Protective Coverings in the Ibis Ripley V4S Carbon Frame
Since Ibis has created such a beautiful carbon frame, they have also designed some protective coverings to prevent any flying rocks or mega chain slap from damaging this beauty. So the chainstays and seatstays get a little extra attention with some raised rubber blocks to deaden the sound as well, and sections to protect from heel rub. The down tube has not been forgotten with a thick rubber guard covering that most important area that generally gets hit the most often and the hardest.
Internal cable routing that is actually simple to route, a longer dropper post capability, a removable ISCG05 mount, and the ability to fit tires up to 2.6-inches makes the Ibis Ripley V4S not only fun but easy to maintain and a joy to ride.
