Matching Your Riding Style with the Litespeed Cherohala

If you are trying to decide between the Litespeed Cherohala and the Gravel, you should ask yourself what type of riding are you really looking to do? There might seem to be quite a lot of overlap between these two frames, but they actually are quite a few pertinent differences.

Litespeed says that the Cherohala is their Fondo bike with an endurance geometry to match. That means that it will have a slightly shorter reach and higher stack designed to make the longer rides more comfortable. Obviously, that doesn’t mean that you can’t look at this as a great racing bike for weekend hammer sessions, but it has the added benefit of being very comfortable for the long haul. And though they have included the option to size in 700c wheels or 650b (27.5 inch) wheels like the Gravel also can do, the tire clearance is a little reduced for each of those wheel size. Nothing that should worry anyone too much, but for the 700c, 35mm tires will be perfect, though you could likely squeeze on some 40mm for rough, unmuddied commutes where the increased comfort will be appreciated. And then if you slip some 650b wheels on, you can fit 2.0 inch slick tires – that is not too nobby. This design gives you slightly less burly options than the Gravel but won’t hinder you at all if you are looking simply to mix some gravel tracks in with your usual road rides.

That wheel and tire ratio will also be plenty for most types of long distance bikepacking adventures you may plan to do. And since Litespeed has given the frame rack and mud guard mounts, you can turn the Cherohala into your weekly commuter and your weekend distance bike with equal ease. And since the titanium frame has been expertly cold-worked and precisely tapered and shaped to offer the right mix of supple and snappy, you will be able to use it as your race day bike as well. And using a PF30 bottom bracket means that that most important intersecting point can be mega stiff and suit nearly any crank set you can imagine. The flat mount disc brakes will also give you tons of choice in terms of which groupset you want to go with, and the frame has been given internally route disc brake cables to keep everything looking sleek and protected. The Cherohala can accommodate both electric and mechanical groupsets, with internal routing for electric and external routing for mechanical.

There aren’t too many places you couldn’t ride with the Litespeed Cherohala. It has the road worthiness of any top flite racing bike and the gravel capabilities to get you through areas unchartered on your GPS map. It’s a bike all about fun and giving you the option to head out on whatever ride you want.
