Though Time might be seen as a traditional brand, their use of materials is certainly cutting edge. The Time ADHX shows what a bike brand that glories in its traditions while always looking to push the technology can create: a fast gravel bike ready to tackle any adventure.

Time has had a tumultuous few years after the unexpected death of its founder, Roland Cattin in 2014. But a change of hands means that a new vigorous group of experts are working with the exceptional materials and craftsmen and women who have worked in the Time-owned factory for decades. The Time ADHX is the first example of what the Time engineers have in mind: building on the braided carbon structure (BCS) and resin transfer molding (RTM) process to introduce new, advanced materials into their weaves to create the best frames possible.

The ADHX is the first frame from Time to incorporate Bio-Based Dyneema into the BCS weave of the carbon. Dyneema has a tensile strength 15x greater than steel, while still being extremely light. The Time engineers have been sure to weave it in where it would do the most good: at the intersections of the headtube, downtube, and top tubes. Since it is very high modulus and resists deformation, the Dyneema provides those important junction points with exceptional stiffness without compromising the weight. It means that other parts of the weave can concentrate on things like vibration absorption and weight reduction to enhance the ride comfort and race-ready performance.

Lightweight and Snappy Climbing with the ADHX

The rest of the ADHX has been designed to outshine all the recent additions to the “fast gravel” category. The intention was to make it feel as lightweight and snappy on the climbs as the Alpe D'Huez while providing the type of wider tire acceptance and slightly more relaxed geometry to enhance the off-road capability. So when you compare the geometries, you’ll see the head tube angle is a little more relaxed for the ADHX while the seat tube angle is more or less similar. That helps keep the feeling of a responsive acceleration while ensuring you’ll still have a slacker feel up front for all day comfort and rough terrain control.
