Description
Colnago eGRV bike - lighweight bicycle for difficult rides
One of the greatest attractions of getting a gravel bike is the idea of being able to explore so much more territory, especially if you are coming from the road. An e-gravel bike like the Colnago eGRV enhances all these possibilities because it will help you keep your speeds up, making sure that you can go deeper into the wilds.
Riding on gravel is typically slower and definitely harder than riding on smooth roads. Having an expertly designed e-gravel bike like the Colnago eGRV means that the ride will be all that much more enjoyable. No one likes to be jumbled about over rough trails. Colnago has taken all they learned from their non electric GRV gravel bike, and applied it to this e-version. With a similar geometry, you will enjoy a pretty racy setup, but it has been softened just a touch since they suspect you will want to be using this for longer treks. So the reach is a smidge less and the stack a touch more. They have also made the most of their deep knowledge with carbon layup to ensure the ride will be responsive, since you’ll definitely want to be in a position to make the most of all that extra power, but it will also absorb the inevitable chatter that gravel roads try to reverberate up the frame. Lightweight, responsive, durable, this is a carbon frame designed to make every gravel ride a snappy joy.
And then, what about that extra power? Well, as with the e64, Colnago has turned to the Ebikemotion system. Little wonder this is the system Colnago is choosing since it not only looks super discreet with the X35 motor since in the rear hub, but it is surprisingly light, with the whole motor and battery system adding just 3.7 kilos to the overall weight of the bike. Any weight gain is more than made up for by the 250 watts the system will offer.
It’s super easy to control, too, which is important on rougher roads when taking your hands off the bars can become a fine art. But with the iWoc button control easily accessible on the top tube, you can engage the motor and set the level of assist, from no power to Eco mode and then to Boost, where the full 250 watts kick into gear. And the entire system can be controlled and set up via an Ebikemotion app, so that you can make any power adjustments to what Eco and Boost actually mean. With the motor in the hub, the acceleration will feel quite natural and easy to control. The battery is inconspicuously stored in the downtube, also helping to keep the center of gravity feeling natural.
Colnago eGRV Components
The Colnago eGRV comes in a complete build with Shimano GRX components and Mavic wheels, the rear of which naturally includes the Ebikemotion motor. And the voluminous 37c tires will give you a good idea about just how capable this bike will be once you get off road and into the woods. The gearing is also nicely oriented towards gravel riding though not so limited that you will feel like you are riding between gears on the road. The 48-31 up front and the 11-32 in the rear is generous enough that when you are on smooth tarmac, you will have the gearing that will allow you to ride comfortably even without the pedal assist.
Available in five sizes and two color schemes, the Colnago eGRV transforms a normal ride in the woods to an adventure.
