Evil Bikes: The Following LS - A Trail Bike Revolution
The visionary designers at Evil Bikes have been at the forefront of trail bike developments. A lot of the fun you can have on trails now is thanks to their belief in long and low. Evil Bikes The Following LS is the latest dash of seasoning that the designers have given their hallmark 29-inch trail bike; it was nearly perfect before. Now they have just tweaked a few things and future-proofed its derailleur hanger.
If you are inclined to equate versatility with mediocrity, then you’ll have to think again with the Following LS. Though it is a low travel mountain bike with 121mm rear suspension paired with 130mm up front, this is a bike that can handle gnarly trails as well as the rowdiest enduro bike. But it straddles the other side of the divide equally well; thanks to a rather steep head tube angle, it handles super precisely, well enough to keep up with nimble full suspension XC bikes. They went with a steeper 77° seat tube which gets you into a nice and aggressive climbing position over the pedals. They have also spec’d a fork with a 51mm offset as standard. That’s so that the handling remains snappy and fast, without feeling jittery.
But the genius of the design comes in the efficiency of the pedaling platform. The forward pedaling position makes serious climbing not only doable but super fun. Relying as always on Dave Weagle’s DELTA Link system for the suspension with its Flip-chip adjustability, you can still tweak the geometry exactly to suit your needs. The system has been updated as well to reduce weight and increase user-friendliness.
One of the major updates Evil designers made for the Following LS is to have secured the trunnion shock spacers in the linkage so that installing shocks will inspire a lot less blue language. Just pull 3 bolts, swap in a new shock, and you’ll be ready to go in just a few minutes. Adding a touch more spice to the set-up, The Offering LS gets future-proofed with the SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH) which is super easy to replace if damaged, and also ensures you will be ready to upgrade to the SRAM next-gen Eagle SL drivetrain if you’d like.
Multiple Build Options and Four Sizes Available of the Following LS
Available in several build options and four sizes, there is an Evil Bikes The Following LS waiting for you. Adding extra taste to the build, Evil issued the LS with two color options, Blackout for those who like the discreet black-on-black, and Foam Roller, which is a pale green that will look sweet when backlit by the sun while you’re tracking a ridge. The Following LS will have you looking for new adventures and enjoying familiar trails in equal measure.
