Experience the Thrill: The Ibis HD6 Carbon Enduro Mountain Bike
Find how fast you can rail the trails on the Ibis HD6 carbon enduro mountain bike. Lightweight with big travel, it’s made for epic days in the hills. No matter how good you think your last Ibis enduro mountain bike was, once you try the Ibis HD6 you’ll realize that the Ibis designers just keep finding ways to make their bikes even better.
Mixing the best bits of the Mojo and Ripmo lines, the HD6 slots in as the longest travel option in the Ibis lineup with 165 mm rear travel and a 27.5-inch wheel and 180 mm fork with a 29-inch front wheel. It’s a tasty setup designed to handle all sorts of enduro-like courses. Though the designers incorporated feedback from the Ibis Enduro World Cup team, the HD6 still feels very welcoming to us regular folks who maybe don’t have pro level skills or easily accessible super steep descents.
Just looking at the carbon frame, you can see that they’ve gone for a pleasingly simple shape that eschews wavy lines for straightforward, sturdy top tube and horizontal shock setup. They have turned to the dw-link for the rear suspension, using two short co-rotating links, but the upper link sits in front of the top tube. This setup means the suspension is sensitive to small bumps and vibrations while still offering the type of progression that can take big hits with ease. We love it when manufacturers keep the options open for how customers may want to build up the bikes, and in this case, Ibis has made it possible for you to use an air shock or a coil shock since they are aware that many people prefer the linear feel you get with a coil shock. Similarly, the designers have looked to find the best balance between stability and agility, not wanting to win the race to be the slackest frame with the biggest suspension numbers. Rather the aim is to make the HD6 super capable downhill but still fun to take on rides that involve a fair amount of climbing to get to the good runs.
That’s one reason why they have chosen the dual wheel sizes, to get the big roll-over up front with the 29-inch, but the agility and weight savings the 27.5 wheel can offer at the rear. The 64° head tube angle encourages a medium slack position that encourages slightly more responsive handling than you might expect from an enduro racing bike, but it’s an intentional decision since they realize not everyone has access to Whistler-type descents. Similarly, the seat tube angle increases from 76° to 77.5° between the smallest and largest size, to ensure everyone enjoys the same efficient pedaling position. The full carbon front and rear triangle keep the weight down and ensure a mighty rigid platform.
SRAM universal derailleur hanger in the HD6 frame
The frame uses the SRAM universal derailleur hanger and is ISCG-05 capability so you can mount that chain guide if you want to make sure you’re not dropping a chain on the rough descents that you’ll naturally be seeking out with this bike. A bottle cage can be mounted on the inside of the front triangle. The frame is covered by a lifetime warranty, a warranty that also covers the bushings used on the lower link.
The Ibis HD6 carbon mountain bike has been designed to excel at everything from pro racing on the World Cup enduro circuit to helping you have a blast on your local trails.
