The Thought and Effort behind the Basso Viper
Basso started out making their bikes in steel, so it should come as no surprise that they still love using steel and work to design some of the nicest, best performing steel frames available today. The Basso Viper is an excellent example of just how much love, thought, and effort the company puts into their steel designs.
Using chromoly that they have sourced from Mannesmann in Germany for the tubes, Basso has made the Viper to be the type of bike that will be perfect for anyone who loves steel frames; whether you are a weekend warrior or want to strike out on multi-day adventures, the Viper has been developed to work well in whichever endeavor you choose. As with expertly crafted steel frames, the Viper has a ride quality that just can’t be matched by most other materials. The elegant frame grows out from the BSA 68mm bottom bracket to enhance the classically shaped frame with a geometry that is not overly aggressive. Suitable for racing, but amazing for endurance riding, the Viper will help you comfortably extend your rides.
Easy Maintenance and Retro Appeal of the Basso Viper
Though the frame does have a very classic appearance, you will notice that the seatstay-seat tube junction has a little something different going on. This unique linkage system has been developed by Basso to keep the stiffness level up to scratch while introducing an extra dose of vibration absorption. And since the frame can accommodate up to 28mm tires, you will be able to guarantee the Viper will float over even the roughest chip and seal roads. This is a vintage-style bike with modern acumen, since you can set it up with mechanical or electronic groupsets. But the external cable routing will look retro and enhance how easy it is to work with when any maintenance is required. Your mechanic will thank you for that.
The Basso Viper is available in seven sizes and a calm cool blue color. It will be the type of bike that can do everything for you, from commuting to racing to adventure riding, with a high level of performance and comfort.
