Description
Comfort-oriented ride profile of the Bianchi Oltre Pro bike
When trying to decide between the Bianchi Oltre RC and Bianchi Oltre Pro, the best question to ask yourself is what type of riding you will be doing most often. These are both extremely advanced, high quality road racing bikes. The main difference is in the use of Bianchi’s Countervail treatment for the Oltre Pro, giving the frame a slightly more comfort-oriented ride profile.
If your next question is whether the Oltre Pro offers the same Air Deflectors / RC cockpit aerodynamic system, the answer is an emphatic yes! The patent-pending “Air Deflectors” on the head tube which, create a low-pressure zone behind to reduce drag. The design works totally in conjunction with the proprietary RC handlebar, featuring a central air channel, or opening, also intended to create low-pressure airflow zones, this time around the rider’s legs to improve aerodynamics even more. It’s a package deal, really. In order to get the full benefit, the frame needs to have both. But that fact that the Air Deflectors are not actually UCI legal, they are removable.
The Bianchi Oltre Pro uses the same mold as the Oltre RC. The main difference is that the high quality carbon has also received Bianchi’s Countervail treatment which means that the carbon material has a unique fiber architecture and is combined with a viscoelastic resin. This viscoelastic resin helps absorb road vibrations which will not only reduce fatigue, but improve the road feel and handling of the bike.
Reduced Muscle Fatigue and Improved Handling in the Oltre Pro
Muscle fatigue will be reduced since you are not getting micro vibrations up the tubes. It will also make getting deep into the drops for the most aero position much more comfortable without road rattle numbing the hands. So if you are keen to race hard or enjoy the watt saving aero benefits, while still feeling comfortable on typically poorly maintained city roads, then the Oltre Pro will be the way to go.
Like the Oltre RC, the Oltre Pro can accept up to 32mm tires and comes spec’d with Reparto Corse components, including Reparto Corse Carbon wheels with a 50mm profile and the Bianchi RC139 carbon saddle. The Bianchi Oltre Pro is a racing bike made for crushing your normal home roads as well as ripping the legs off your competition. It is available in six sizes and a variety of pre-build options.
